Pyraminx

This puzzle is a tetrahedron that may look difficult but really it's probably the easiest non-cube shape WCA puzzle.

It was made in 1970 by Uwe Meffert and patented in 1981. He says that if it were not for Erno Rubik releasing the rubik's cube his puzzle would not have gained as much popularity as it did.

Once you've solved this you'll have finished your first non-cube shape WCA puzzle and will be well on your way towards the 1.23 set by Drew Brads

Beginners

This is a basic way of solving a pyraminx for when you first start out. With enough practise you'll be able to solve in less than 10 seconds every time. Some of the algorithms will be similar to the algorithms in 2-look PLL.

Let's take a look:
1. Solve the first "biohazard"
This is mostly intuitive as it is like the cross. You can only solve this on one side. This is easier for some than it is for others but you will eventually get the hang of it after playing around.

2. First Layer
Now you insert the first layer pieces. This is done from the left or the right with either R' L R L' (right) and L R' L' R (left)

3. PLL
This is not too hard. You just recognise and solve using the correct algorithm and twist the tips.
  • Clockwise U: (R U R' U)2
  • Anticlockwise U: (R U' R' U')2
  • Parity: (R' L R L') rotate (R' L R L')

Things that may help:
tall5001 has a good explanation in his video. He also does few walkthroughs and solves to show you it in action. Also this site could help as well. To print the page do ctrl+p, select your options and print.
